We have some winners! Well done to Emily and May who won the competition to design posters for the side of the new recycling lorries! They went to a fantastic presentation event and are going to be in the Tiverton Gazette. Watch this blog for more info as it unfolds. Emily wrote a wonderful article for the Sampford Peverell local magazine. Here it is with some of the photos...
My school sent out letters about a competition. You had to design a poster to encourage people to recycle. If your poster was engaging enough, you would get picked to have your design on one of the Mid Devon recycling lorries. Not only would you get your picture on the side, you would also get the lorry named after you. Designing the poster was fun and there were lots of amazing entries. I was one of those lucky six to win. I found out when I got a letter at my door; I was so excited I couldn’t stop smiling - I was surprised people didn’t think something was wrong with me! Me, along with the five others, were invited to a small presentation. We got given a certificate along with a copy of our winning design while a bunch of people took our photos - it felt like I had my own paparazzi but it was only a couple of photographers and my mum. Each of us got given a recycling goodie bag filled with some fun things: a pencil made from recycled CD cases, fascinating; two boxes of raisins, healthy but yummy; gummy worms, absolutely delicious and a cook book with recipes made out of left overs - I’m pretty sure that was my mum’s favourite as the first thing she said when she saw it was “that’ll be handy!” So look out for a lorry named Emily. I can’t wait to see it on the roads! If you see it I really hope you like my design. Emily Packham Age 10. ...and photos... Comments are closed.
